A custom 3D-Printed Prill Press Dust Extraction Upgrade
You can never have enough dust extraction in a workshop! This part was designed around my need for better dust and chip extraction while using my drill press. It has also made drilling safer as I don’t need to physically remove the dust and chips, keeping my hands away from a potentially dangerous situation.
The standard 3D-Printed dust extraction nozzle for this plan attaches to a 40mm inside diameter fitting. The 3D-Printed clamp that mounts to the drill press consists of 2 different-sized holes.
There will be other iterations of this clamp coming out as we receive feedback from users regarding other drill press and piping sizes.
The larger hole has a 60mm inside diameter and mounts to the bar of the Drill Press. The smaller hole has a 40mm inside diameter and mounts to the dust extraction system or vacuum cleaner.
The hardware needed for the assembly is as follows.
1 x Cam Lock- 8mm or 5/16th “- Minimum of 70mm long
2x Brass M5 inserts
2 x M5 x 40mm Screws
There is a free 3D-printer file- STL file available for download. There will be multiple files available as we receive feedback. Currently, the project was designed around a 60mm drill press bar mount and a 40mm dust extraction pipe.
